Torralba de los Sisones
Located between the Gallocanta Lagoon and the high moorland of Blancas, this small village is a good start point for nature lovers, and especially for those who love bird watching. The visitor will be able to sight steppe birds such as the Calandra lark, Sky lark, Short-toed lark, Black Bellied sand grouse and of course the Little Bustard. Also many flocks of cranes in Winter around the Carabejas pond.
Having a walk around its streets you can visit the Parish Church dedicated to Saint Pedro, which was built in order to replace the one located in the castle of the town. Also, there are interesting elements of its civil architecture, standing out the Casa Grande (ancestral home).
From the ruins of the castle there is a viewpoint from which the visitor will enjoy amazing views to the Gallocanta lagoon and nearby towns.
Once you have finished the visit you can get relaxed at the heated swimming pool as it is the only one existing in the Jiloca area.
Annually in Torralba de los Sisones a livestock, farming and commerce fair takes place the last weekend of May. It shows activities such as sheep shearing exhibitions.
