“El Trasiego” Wine Museum
One of the most destacable cultural places in San Martín del Río, towards to its wine tradition is the wine Museum called “El Trasiego”. It is located in the former alcohol factory owned by the Marco family at the entrance of the village.
It is a restored building of about 3 hundred square metres where its owner, Jesús Marco, exhibits a collection of more than half thousand of pieces, which they stand out among others the big fermentation tanks, bottles, carafes, alembic through steam distillation and other devices used in the grape harvest processes.

The Museum, is the outcome of a long-term collection and restoration work carried out by its owner and his family.

The pieces contained in the museum are part of a private collection. In most cases, they have been inherited, bought or just donated by friends and neighbours. There is a barrel whose capacity is 3 thousand litres and also a wooden press.
The museum communicates with the wine cellar “El Trasiego” and with a nature classroom of the same name, where tourists and neighbours come to know the process that converts grapes into wine and also have a wine tasting.
The wine Museum, together with the Saffron Museum in Monreal del Campo, occupies a distinct place in Comarca del Jiloca offering the visitor the recovery of one of the most strengthen rural traditions in the area.
